Domain formatting rules

Use a clean domain

Enter example.com or sub.example.com. Avoid adding protocol (https://) and avoid paths (/pricing).

Why this matters

Analyses run at a domain level so crawling can discover the pages that represent your brand. Paths and tracking parameters often lead to partial or duplicated signals.

Common mistakes

  • Copying a full URL from the browser (includes path + query).
  • Entering a marketing link shortener domain instead of the real site.
  • Entering a staging domain that blocks crawlers.

Best practice

If you have separate marketing sites for regions, run separate analyses per domain and create locale-specific directions.
